How the units are worked out

Your vial holds a fixed amount of peptide. The water you add sets the concentration (how much peptide sits in each millilitre). The concentration then decides how much liquid carries your dose.

Three steps, in order:

  1. Concentration (mcg/mL) = peptide in the vial (mcg) divided by water added (mL).
  2. Volume (mL) = your dose (mcg) divided by the concentration (mcg/mL).
  3. Units to draw = volume (mL) multiplied by 100.

That last step is the syringe, not the peptide. A U-100 insulin syringe is marked so 100 units hold 1 mL, so 0.1 mL reads as 10 units.

A worked example

These are the numbers in the calculator above, worked through: 10 mg + 2 mL = 5,000 mcg/mL. 500 mcg = 0.10 mL = 10 units on a 0.3 mL syringe.

Mixing and storage

Run the water down the inside wall of the vial and let the powder dissolve on its own. Never shake it. Label the vial with the compound, the total mass, the water you added, the concentration and the date. A sealed freeze-dried vial keeps 12 to 24 months in the fridge at 2 to 8°C. Once mixed with preserved water, such as bacteriostatic water, that drops to roughly 28 days refrigerated. Keep it at the back of the fridge, away from light and away from the door's temperature swings.

Does BPC-157 actually heal tendons in people?
Nobody knows. The tendon evidence is almost entirely rats. In one rat study a fully cut Achilles tendon regained its strength and closed. That result has never been repeated in a human trial. The only human musculoskeletal data is a chart review of 16 people with knee pain. It had no control group and no scans afterwards to show that tissue actually repaired. Encouraging is not the same as proven.
Is BPC-157 legal?
It is not an approved medicine in the United States. The FDA lists it among bulk substances for compounding that may present significant safety risks, and the nomination to permit it was withdrawn. A compounding pharmacy cannot lawfully make it for you. Buying it labelled as a research chemical does not change that position. It is also banned in professional sport, so a competing athlete risks a sanction by using it.
Is it safe?
The honest answer is that nobody knows. Animal safety work found no harm across several organ systems, and the small human pilot studies reported no adverse events. But those studies covered fewer than 30 people in total and ran for a short time. That is nowhere near enough to pick up anything rare or slow. The bigger day to day risk is what is actually in the vial, because no pharmaceutical grade product exists.
Can it help gut problems like colitis?
The gut claims come from rat work, not from people. In rats, chemically caused colitis and a surgically joined section of bowel both healed with treatment while untreated animals did not. The peptide was chosen partly because it survives stomach acid, which is why swallowing it is even plausible. But no completed controlled human trial has been published for any gut condition. So there is no human result to point to.
Will it cause a problem for a competing athlete?
Yes, potentially. BPC-157 is banned in professional sport. A 2025 systematic review says so plainly and tells clinicians to warn athletes about it. Whether a given testing panel detects it is a separate question, and no seller can honestly answer that for you. If you compete under any anti doping code, check your own sport's rules first. Never rely on a claim that something is undetectable.
What should I ask a doctor before considering it?
Ask three things. First, what is the actual evidence for my specific problem, and is any of it human? Second, where would the material come from and how would its purity be checked, given no pharmaceutical grade product exists? Third, what proven treatment am I delaying while I try this? A clinician who cannot answer the first two is guessing. Tell every other clinician you see that you are using it.
